PRE and Stage 1 formulas by HiPP, Holle and Lebenswert are intended for the first 6 months of life and are especially formulated for exclusive formula feeding, but are completely fine for supplementing as well. Stage 1 formulas contain slower burning carbohydrate sources, such as organic starch and/or organic maltodextrin, as opposed to just lactose, which is typically used in the Stage PRE formulas.
